I agree with TeeBee. Roads near Ayr not so great, but its just the destination & the funs to be had on the way there (or from). There are better runs in the area & when I get time I shall start adding them. It depends what you e used too I suppose, but road surface is fine, just watch out coming through the tighter twisties near Carsphad as the road seems a bit off camber in places (maybe I need to check my tyres?)There is also a bend leaving StJohns town Dalry heading north that can catch you out if you,re being naughty through town, tut tut! Also despite the low volume of traffic this is the short cut from Dumfries to Ayr so there are often police cars en route, but not neccessarily out to catch anyone.

This route is fun. Lots of high-speed corners, little traffic. Even on a day of drizzle and with the bike packed for travel, it was just loads of fun and I couldnt help being hard on the throttle.

Close to Ayr it isnt all that exiting though.

A cracking run which gets really nice South of Dalmellington. Between Dalmellington and Loch Ken there are loads of nice twisties. Some of the road surface has been replaced in recent years but there are still stretches of old stuff. After Loch Ken the road straightens out a little on teh way to Castle Douglas.
