I did this road on a trip around the west coast, a great road with some nice twists, mostly flat. Awesome views of the lock and a few pubs to stop off for food and a non-alcoholic beverage! I did see a totaled SV650 in the cliff face but i cant imagine what caused the incident. Things to look out for, tourists!!! Many of them parked in the numerous laybys so watch out for them when they pull out. Good biking scene there, past many groups of bikers along the west side. Well recommended road on a summers day.

I rode this route on Sunday evening from Fort Augustas to Inverness and it was stunning. Very little traffic and dry roads. There are long sections of linked corners, each with almost the same angle, it was great fun. The bends are well sign posted with no surprises. You do have to be careful on your overtakes if you catch groups of cars. The road surface is good as this is a main link road in and out of the highlands

The section by Loch Ness suffers from heavy traffic as soon as the sun comes out making passing tricky. Coaches and inattentive tourists in Micras can present an unwelcome challenge, detracting from a very scenic and well surfaced road. Best enjoyed during a football world cup final or similar!

The second section, from Fort Augustus to Fort William opens out a little and offers more straights / passing opportunities. Look out for the RM Commando Memorial about 2 miles outside of Spean Bridge

I only rode the top portion of this route before turning around and heading back to Inverness, but the few kilometers I rode were fantastic. Lots of high speed curves make it great on a motorcycle.

The one time I did this road it was very quiet - but it was at about six in the morning. We were camped at Fort william and I snuck out and went to Inverness for breakfast..... then came back to the gang for more..... awesome! The breakfasts as well....

Did this route in 2004 and must have timed it to perfection because for the full length of Loch Ness, we hardly saw another vehicle in either direction. The long sweeping bends are amazing and I can remember opening my throttle at the start of the loch and hardly closing it again until we entered Fort Augustus.

Rode this several times. Can be busy in the tourist season but a cracking intro into Highland riding. A few blind bends once running along "the" Loch but a overall a cracking road when not busy or the boys in blue and around. Six of us did it a few times this year, taking eight next year, It's that good!!
