Rode from Braga to Braganca yesterday, a beautiful sunny day with almost zero traffic. I’d never heard of the N103 before, but the quality of the road surface, the corners, weather and scarcity of any other road users makes it a real classic, worth the effort in my experience.

I´ve done just the section between Montalegre and Chaves but it was enough to feel confident about revewing this one. Got some rain but didn´t scratch the "amazingness" of the road. Probably the best northern Douro ride.

Very nice road, one of the best I've ever driven. The section between Braga and Chaves it's absolutely awesome, lots and lots of corners. The section between Chaves and Bragança it's a fast road, still a very nice section. Great road, try it.

3 goes at this route - twice from the coast in towards Spain and once in the opposite direction. Loads of fun and loads to keep you interested.

Did this road in May 2008. Excellent. Fab surface, single radius curves. A little built up when leaving Braga, but heading east it just got better and better, into wild open countryside, with less and less traffic. A Buzz. The N103 continues towards leon worth a spin.

Good road but the EEC funded water or sewer trench has messed up the surface but should be finnished 07 or early 08. You can hang a turn south and travel roughly parallel to avoid worst of surface.

Did this road in May 2006... it was very good! However, they were resurfacing the section after Chaves towards Braganca so it gravelly and not much grip! Made it very interesting. The new surface should mean good biking this year. Stopped in the Ibis Hotel in Braganca, with underground secure parking and only 35Euro/night.

I concur. An excellent ride. I also took the nearby N311 just east of Chaves from Boticas to Venda Nova. High speed sweepers with some good visibility. Good fun

Route 103 in Northern Portugal runs from Braga in the West to Braganca in the East. About 200 kilometres of absolutely stunning mountain road. Traffic is generally light and the road surface, by and large, is excellent. Chaves, about half way, makes a nice stop off point and the opportunity to refuel self and bike. The western section is largely fast, open sweepers, the eastern has a lot more tight and twisty stuff. Ride it, you'll love it!
